Artificial Intelligence for Swim Coaches
Helping you to become' more efficient.
“AI will never replace coaches, but coaches who don’t utilise AI will be replaced.” Dan McCarthy.
We have been developing some AI tools to help the swim coaches who are part of our GAIN Swim community, as well as starting a series of ‘How-to’ articles and seminars.
We have created our own bot, “Ask Digital Webb,” to help busy coaches navigate their way around the extensive library of movement videos and exercise plans. We understand how sometimes people want a ‘quick fix’ but need a trusted source. Here’s an example:
It’s proven popular and a handy supplement to our consultancy work and online training.
Thanks to everyone who joined us at our Open Water Clinic in Sarasota last month. The in-person experience is something that AI can’t replicate!
One of the highlights was watching Andy Stone take the young Carmel swimmers through their paces. Andy has been coaching the University of Virginia (UVA) swim team in their dryland training.
UVA were already successful before Andy worked with them; they recently won their sixth consecutive NCAA Championship, but successful teams want to improve continually.
Chris Plumb, head coach at Carmel Swim Club, had this to say about the clinic:
“I learned from Andy how important it is to move in multiple plans at various intensities and keep the athletes challenged and sharp through movement.
Ron Aitken gave a great talk on the importance of consistency and how to appropriately challenge your athletes.”
Save the date!
Our summer clinic will be held in Carmel, Indiana, from Friday 26th August to Sunday 28th August. Details to follow here.
The ROOTS framework
Shane Kelley has developed an excellent framework for coaches based on interviews with eight former ‘High School Coaches of the Year.’ He shared it with us in his presentation last month.
Here’s an infographic showing some of the key points.
Short course versus long course training
If you want to learn how the top coaches are preparing their teams for long-course competitions, then why not tune into our next month of coach education seminars?
If you attend the live events, you get to ask questions to the presenters directly. All members of the GAIN Swim community can replay the presentations, read the accompanying articles and delve deeper into further reading. They can then test their knowledge in the ‘fun’ end-of-month quiz.
Thanks for reading.
